Before and after dental veneers replacement patient photos in Lehi, UTDental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that a dentist places over your teeth to produce stunning aesthetic results or correct a number of dental issues. Veneers help you achieve uniformity in the shape of your teeth and have protective qualities to prevent harm to your natural teeth. If you are interested in veneers to restore your smile’s radiance and overall appearance, contact Vero Dental in Lehi, UT, today. Dr. Alex Harris is a highly skilled cosmetic dentist and will evaluate your dental goals and work with you to develop a treatment plan to achieve the smile of your dreams.

Advantages of Porcelain Veneers

Veneers can either be made of composite resin or porcelain (ceramic). Porcelain naturally has a tooth-colored appearance and often yields more natural-looking results. Porcelain resists stains and is much more durable than resin, often lasting for many more years. Many patients are good candidates for porcelain veneers, making longer-lasting cosmetic dentistry results an option for more people. Porcelain veneers are much thinner than composite resin. This reduces the amount of enamel that must be removed on the teeth in order to fit the veneers.

What Issues Can Veneers Correct?

Veneers are ideal for treating a number of cosmetic dental issues. These include:

  • Weakened or dulled tooth enamel
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Discoloration that cannot be treated with professional teeth whitening or other color balancing treatments
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Minor alignment problems

The Veneers Procedure

Before and after photos of patient with dental veneersDuring your first visit, we will take X-rays of your mouth and create a plan to reach your dental goals. Alex Harris, DDS offers a variety of anesthesia and sedation options, which we will discuss to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during treatment.

The total veneer process takes about 2 months and includes two visits to our office. For porcelain veneers, we will make an impression of your teeth and the veneers will be professionally fabricated in a dental laboratory. While the veneers are being made, we may provide you with temporary veneers to wear in the meantime.

When your final veneers are ready, you will return to our office to have them placed. Veneer placement is a non-invasive, comfortable procedure. Some patients may require local anesthesia, but otherwise this treatment generally does not require deeper sedation.

Alex Harris, DDS will reshape the natural tooth with a device called a bur. Reshaping ensures the veneers will fit properly on top of the teeth. The veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth using a special dental adhesive. Composite resin veneers require a special light to harden the material, while most porcelain veneers do not. Once the adhesive dries, your beautiful smile is ready for you to enjoy.

To care for your veneers, practice good oral hygiene with regular brushing and flossing. We may recommend a night guard to wear while you sleep to protect your veneers. Alex Harris, DDS may advise against certain foods that could damage the veneers, such as carrots or other very hard foods. If you ever have questions about your veneers, please contact our office. We are always happy to assist you.

Types of Tooth Veneers

At Vero Dental, we offer two different kinds of dental veneers: prepless veneers and traditional porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are made of several thin ceramic layers bonded together into a strong shell. Alex Harris, DDS will remove a small amount of your tooth enamel to make room for porcelain veneers and bond them in place with light-sensitive resin.

Prepless or no-prep veneers are also made of porcelain but Alex Harris, DDS doesn’t need to remove as much enamel (if any) to prepare them for bonding. Both types are durable and create a stunning, pearly-white smile, but prepless veneers are minimally invasive, preserving your natural tooth enamel.

Which Type of Dental Veneer Is Right for Me?

Your dental needs will determine which type of thin veneers for teeth Alex Harris, DDS will recommend after an evaluation. Severely damaged teeth do better with traditional veneers. The complexity of your case and the cost might also be factors. Keep in mind that cosmetic restorations are not typically covered on dental insurance.
