Benefits of Clear Aligners

Patients love straightening their smiles with clear aligners. In addition to feeling more confident about your straight smile, there are numerous other benefits to this special type of orthodontic treatment:

  • Avoid the look and feel of metal brackets and wires
  • Can treat a variety of dental issues
  • Wearing the retainers is easy—simply put them in after meals and brushing and take them out to clean
  • The aligners are virtually transparent
  • Children, teens, and adults can all benefit from this clear alignment technology
  • Special align technology moves teeth gradually in position, and many patients claim the retainers are more comfortable than metal braces
  • Scans are taken digitally, eliminating the need for traditional molds and impressions

Clear Braces Options at Vero Dental

At Vero Dental, we offer both Invisalign and Trez aligners. Alex Harris, DDS will discuss the differences between the two systems with you and determine the best one for your particular case.

Invisalign’s technology has advanced over the decades and is able to treat orthodontic problems like malocclusions, and it requires fewer followup visits. Trez, meanwhile is uniquely comfortable, as you would begin with a soft aligner that prepares your teeth at the cellular level to move into their new positions. Then you’ll progress to a medium aligner, and finally a hard aligner to complete the movement.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

First, you will meet with Alex Harris, DDS at our office to determine your smile goals. If you choose clear aligners, we will take 3D scans of your mouth using a special handheld scanner. We use these scans to create your custom set of aligners, which you can start wearing as soon as they’re ready.

Your custom clear aligners are created in a lab, then sent them to our office. They are made of a strong plastic that ensures a comfortable and secure fit for every retainer. Every aligner is trimmed to fit along your gum line without causing irritation, resulting in maximum comfort.

Once we receive your first set of aligners, you will return to our office and we will place them in your mouth. Alex Harris, DDS will ensure they fit properly and feel comfortable, and then your journey to a straighter smile begins!

Wear your aligners every day for 22 hours, only removing them to eat and brush your teeth. The more often you wear your retainers, the faster you will see results. Treatment times will vary depending on the types and extent of the dental issues you are seeking to correct. You’ll start seeing results in a matter of weeks, but it will take several months to complete the treatment process.

You will receive a new set of retainers every 2 weeks. Each set includes minor adjustments and when worn, your teeth will gradually shift to fit the new positions. You will visit us for appointments as necessary, and at these visits, we will track the development of your teeth.

With our scanning technology, we can predict your smile outcome at the start of treatment. You know exactly what the final result will look like and what to expect along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions About Clear Aligners

Do I Need to See an Orthodontist for Clear Braces?

Both orthodontists and dentists can be trained to offer Invisalign or Trez aligners. Alex Harris, DDS has completed specialized training in this clear alignment system in order to offer more cosmetic dental services to his patients. In addition to being trained with clear aligners, Alex Harris, DDS offers more anesthesia options and restorative services to his patients than standard general dentists. At Vero Dental, your smile is in excellent hands, and we look forward to being a part of your journey to a straighter, happier smile.

What Can I Eat With Clear Aligners?

One of the huge benefits of this treatment is that there are no diet restrictions. When you eat, remove the retainers and put them back in when you’re done. There are no moving parts or brackets to catch food, and you can enjoy your favorite meals without worrying about damaging your retainers.

How Much Do Clear Aligners Cost?

The cost of clear aligners is similar to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, and we will walk you through the cost of your clear aligner treatment during your consultation with Alex Harris, DDS. Contact us today to schedule your appointment at Vero Dental and begin your journey to a straighter, more confident smile.

Will I Have to Wear a Retainer After Treatment?

Most dental professionals recommend wearing a retainer following any type of orthodontic treatment, including clear aligners and traditional braces. Retainers prevent your teeth from gradually shifting back into their previous positions. There are many types of retainers available, and Alex Harris, DDS will be happy to discuss your options for maintaining the results of your clear aligners treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Clear Braces?

If traditional braces would work for you, then you are most likely a candidate for clear aligners. Some patients have such extreme orthodontic problems that they require oral surgery to correct, or their crowding or malocclusions are too much for clear aligners to fix. Alex Harris, DDS will be able to determine whether your orthodontic problems can be addressed with clear aligners.
