Dental Bonding

Restore and Improve the Appearance of Your Teeth

Dental bonding improves the appearance of a tooth by applying a tooth-colored resin material to the tooth’s surface. Tooth bonding can repair chipped areas and parts affected by tooth decay. Dental bonding is often the easiest and least expensive way to restore your smile without the need for surgical procedures or multiple office visits.

This cosmetic dental procedure is performed in the safety and comfort of our dental office in Lehi, UT. To improve your smile’s appearance, contact Vero Dental today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Alex Harris.

Why Is Dental Bonding Done?

There are many reasons why a natural tooth can lose its shape. Cosmetic dentistry aims to restore the appearance of damaged or decayed teeth for beautiful results. Dental bonding is a procedure that doesn’t require any anesthesia and can be performed in a single visit. You may benefit from bonding if you experience any of the following:

  • Tooth decay
  • Chipping or breaking teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are shorter than others
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • A tooth root has been exposed due to receding gums and needs protection

The Teeth Bonding Procedure

When you visit Vero Dental for bonding, we will walk you through every step so you know what to expect. We may take X-rays if we have not already. Anesthesia is not typically required for this procedure, but we are happy to discuss your options for anesthesia or sedation for your comfort.

Together, you and Alex Harris, DDS will select a shade of composite resin that matches the rest of your teeth. We will roughen the surface of the tooth and apply a special liquid that will help the bonding material stick. The resin is like a putty that Alex Harris, DDS will mold and shape to your tooth. Once the desired shape is achieved, the material is hardened using a special light. We will trim the tooth and make final touches, then polish it to match the sheen of your other natural teeth.

This procedure is usually completed in 30–60 minutes, but this may vary depending on the number of teeth that you would like bonded. If you choose, we can combine this treatment with another cosmetic service to improve your smile’s appearance

Caring for Your Bonded Teeth

Just like any type of dental procedure, there are steps you can take to maximize your results and maintain good oral health. After your teeth are bonded, this material can sometimes crack or chip. Avoid biting on fingernails or using your teeth to tear things open. If at any point your tooth feels unusual when biting down, contact our office and we will have you come in for reevaluation.

Other than being careful not to damage the bonding material, your bonded teeth do not require special care. Maintain good brushing and flossing habits twice daily, and your smile will remain healthy and beautiful.

If you’re interested in exploring other options for restoring your smile’s appearance, ask Alex Harris, DDS during your visit. We are cosmetic dental specialists in Lehi, Utah, and offer a variety of cosmetic services to achieve the beautiful smile of your dreams.
